Thank you all for stepping up your participation in all the many activities that are going on within our
organization. It is surprising how much can get done with a First rate board and active participation of
the membership. Quoting Jerry Kustich of Twin Bridges Mt.: “I have to say the high point of my journey
was my evening in Rapid City. Meeting so many Fine folks dedicated to the resource was truly a
rewarding experience.”
I echo that remark made about our Club and the Board member that led it. We are making a difference
and it shows on many fronts and at many levels. This word of encouragement comes to you from me...
I am very happy to serve alongside each and every one of you, and I know how much your
contributions mean to the Club. Your work is imprinted all over the Black Hills...You do make a
difference!
In the same context of “No Child Left Behind,” I want to be sure that all of you are aware of
opportunities to serve on the committee that most reflects your interests. Please feel free to express
your desires so that we can be effective in all of the areas which encompass the reasons for our
existence.
As we gear up for the new season, please be aware of a short-term opportunity to make a strong
showing. Our efforts at stream Clean-up have been visible within the Youth / Education Committee.
Each Spring and Fall we pitch in to clean up Devon Park...1/2 mile west of Fish Hatchery on Hiway 44
...We need some stout men with loppers and brush cutters to do some of the heavy tasks and
supervise the Youth who will be conducting the clean-up. The date is Saturday Oct 7, 2006, 9 a.m. to
2 p.m. Pizza will be served at noon.
With a strong turnout, we will make light work of this project and have a little fun as well...Dennis Rabe
and Jim Phoenix are the contacts for this project. Please let the Dakota Angler know if you can make it
and what equipment you will be bringing....RSVP 341-2450.
Many hands make light work, and it’s a lot of fun when the work is light...see you Saturday morning.
Sincerely,
Jim Hawke
